In the first part of the course on human osteology students will learn about taphonomy in relation to human skeletal remains, how to best approach excavation of human skeletal remains on the field, how to prepare the remains for further osteological analyses in the post-excavation process, and how to best store skeletal remains in a long-term. In the second part of the course students will learn skeletal anatomy, how to asses age, sex and stature from the skeleton, and how to recognize pathological changes and differentiate them from taphonomic changes.
